ESTIMATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is tasked with estimating projects at all levels while interacting with team members, clients and
vendors. This position requires flexibility, resourcefulness and the ability to adapt on-the-fly. Simply put, the
success of our jobs starts with the estimating process. At Advent, we are looking for people that have a

DUTIES
This will require, but is not limited to, the following:

Coordination of Advent’s scope with client and internal team
Strategically consult and add value with internal team, vendors and clients
Lead discussions with key stakeholders on budget, timeline, materials, and installation
Gathering pricing from various vendors and preparing quotes for potential small projects
New vendor research (capabilities, pricing, etc)
Day-to-day communication with vendors regarding new and on-going projects
Collaborating with and managing work flow internally with other “departments”
Determine best in class vendors and recommend them based on scope of project(s)
Collaborate on project schedules based on knowledge of lead times
Create material summaries and takeoffs
Maintain historical costs records for future reference
Support lead estimator with on-going initiatives and special projects
High level note taking in meetings with extreme attention to detail
Keep multiple projects on track at the same time
Help orient interns and new hires to estimating process
Traveling required on an as needed basis
QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to solve problems on the fly
• Related internship and/or 2+ years of estimating experience
• Commercial construction estimating experience (3 to 5 years preferred)
• Fluent in building estimating software and techniques
• General understanding of design and construction terms
• Flexible schedule
• Highly organized and must have attention to detail
• Proactive, self-starter with a positive attitude and a inquisitive personality
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar/equivalent
experience
