WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships The $100 Solution Graduate Teaching Assistantship Position Description: WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships seeks a Graduate Teaching Assistant for The $100 Solution™ (THDS) program at WKU for AY 2016-17. The $100 Solution™ GTA provides teaching and program administrative assistance for The $100 Solution™ (THDS) program at WKU. Teaching responsibilities will include co-teaching a Leadership Studies course, as well as grading reflections, training students, and other teaching duties as assigned. The GTA will work directly with WKU students enrolled in THDS courses or in co-curricular programs, as well as partnering organizational contacts, partnering local high school instructors and dual-credit students, faculty from partnering WKU departments, and the national THDS board of directors. This position is supervised by the Community Engagement Coordinator at the ALIVE Center. Responsibilities related to management of The $100 Solution™ program at WKU may include: • Co-teach LEAD 200 course • Grade weekly written reflections • Assist with $100 Solution trainings for WKU students in and out of class, high school students, and community members who want to learn how to complete $100 Solution projects and become eligible to apply for funding from the ALIVE CCP. • Serve as a resource to $100 Solution faculty and students. • Assist with bi-annual $100 Solution staff and faculty training. • Coordinate end of semester IMPACT Expo – recognition of service-learning at WKU • Coordinate $100 Solution social media and communications. • Keep $100 Solution digital and printed files up to date. • Maintain list of projects with continued need • Prepare reports • Maintain databases of completed projects, certified students and community members, alumni, faculty, courses, and community partners. • Assist with THDS partner luncheon for participating organizations. • Assist with fundraising campaigns for THDS at WKU. • Oversee The $100 Solution™ blog within the WKU ALIVE CCP website with information on upcoming, ongoing, and recent projects (including photos and videos when available). • Manage application and reporting processes. • Assist in tracking of expenditure authorizations and receipts. • Assist with the planning and implementation of new THDS initiatives Page 1 of 2 Desired Qualifications: • • • • • Experience with service-learning Experience supervising and/or mentoring students Ability to manage time effectively Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks Excellent conversational skills • • • • • • • Excellent writing skills Excellent oral presentation skills Positive attitude Experience with public service Ability to plan and organize work Ability to work with a team Ability to multi-task Department: ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships Application Materials: Application Information: www.wku.edu/alive Submit application, resume, letter of intent (up to three pages), and three letters of recommendation via email, postal mail, or drop off at the ALIVE Center Contact: Leah Ashwill, Director Leah.ashwill@wku.edu (270) 782-0812 Mailing Address: ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships 1906 College Heights Blvd. #21095 Bowling Green, KY 42101 Physical Address: 1818 US 31-W Bypass Bowling Green, KY 42101 Page 2 of 2
