Dear Members,
5th November,2015
Some of the recent important developments for the profession are:
ICAI Elections- Exercise your Right:
Members are by now aware that the ICAI Elections, held every three years are now to
be held on 4th& 5th December, 2015. The polling percentage in Mumbai is generally far
lower than the smaller cities. It is not only our Right but our Duty to exercise our
Right of casting our vote and also encourage others to do the same. We should all
ensure that the polling percentage improves significantly in our city. Moreover, as
ours is a Single Transferable voting system, we must give as many preferences as
possible. This will enable us to select the best candidates to represent our profession.
CA Manoj Fadnis elected as the Deputy President of CAPA:
It is very heartening to note that our President CA Manoj Fadnis has been elected as
the Deputy President of Confederation of Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA) for a
period of two years. This prestigious position has been received by an Indian
President after a gap of 10 years. CAPA is the Regional Organisation representing
national accountancy organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Withdrawal of Five Guidance Notes on Accounting:
In the last Council Meeting held on 14th October,2015 , ICAI has decided to
withdraw
five Guidance notes as they are no longer relevant. A list of the same is hosted on
the
ICAI Website. Moreover, the Guidance note on Depreciation is being revised in view
of the changes in Companies Act, 2013.
Pre Budget Memorandum :
Members often have suggestions on Direct and Indirect Taxes. The ICAI is in the
process of preparing its Pre- Budget Memorandum. This is an opportunity for
members to submit their suggestions in relation to policy matters as well as
procedural matters which can be considered by ICAI whilst preparing its
Memorandum to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
In case you have any suggestions for the profession, kindly mail it to me at
sm@gmj.co.in.
Warm Regards,
Sanjeev Maheshwari

Shelter is a basic human need, which has become a major challenge in the country, which is fast
