Standing Committee Improvement Report For 2014-2015
In accordance with College Procedure 2.01.01.14, Committees, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, each May, requests the chairs of the College’s standing
committees to submit the Annual Standing Committee Chairs’ Year-End Improvement Report to inform the President of the College concerning the decisions and
effectiveness of the standing committees. The data are used to create this Standing Committee Improvement Report, which is available on the College web site:
http://www.epcc.edu/InstitutionalEffectiveness/Pages/StandingCommitteeImprovementReportbyCommittee.aspx.
ENTERING STUDENT COMMITTEE
CHARGE: To make recommendations that facilitate students’ matriculation and smooth transition into the College and their knowledge of all services that are available to
support their success.
Academic
Year
2014-2015
2013-2014
I. Response to last Year’s Chair’s recommended Plan
of Action
II. Recommendations and Receiving Administrator(s)
III. Recommended Plan of Action (e.g. Objectives) for
the Committee during the next Academic Year
The committee has to revisit last year’s plan since the committee
only met once for 2013-2014. Since there have been several
changes we revisited the web page tiles layout, and information
provided. The recommendation for this year is to implement the
new page to make it easy to access information for incoming
students.
The committee followed up on the admissions check list project.
Interviews were conducted with each department, and a
comparison on information needed for each department is being
reviewed at this time.
The admission check list should be completed by the time the
next committee is engaged. IT has been supportive and will be
willing to implement the checklist at soon as it is completed.
The Entering Student Committee did not benefit from meeting or
planning on a regular basis this year.
Since the committee did not benefit from an active chairperson no
additional accomplishments can be reported.
The coming year will benefit from a new chair that is able to reengage this committee. The Admissions Checklist project needs
to be re-addressed at the beginning of the Fall 2014 semester. It
is at a point that, with the appropriate committee and IT support,
the checklist can be finished quickly, and another project can
commence.

Defined tiles or drop down menu.
The committee should take on a new project regarding the
entering student experience.
The original charge for this year was to complete the Admissions
Checklist project. The project was transitioning to a point where
Information Technology had developed modular tiles to serve as
links to each key populations' checklist. This item is still
pending. The committee only met once this year. The assigned
chair was unable to fulfill these duties as appointed for reasons
beyond her control. Senior Management was aware of this
conflict since mid-Fall 2013 semester.
2012-2013
The NSO implementation team and screening of new
students. The NSO implementation team and Chair of the
Entering Student committee submitted proposals to VP of
Instruction for review. Two proposals were reviewed by College
President, VP Student Services and VP of Instruction. At the
request of the President, submission of paper work to unfreeze
the Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Campus Life
was submitted. This position and NSO department would be
housed within the department of SLCL.
Work with departments to identify questions to be asked.
Development of a checklist and screening of new students will be
determined for pop up questions over tiles or drop down
