Rutger's Dean Plans More
Studies For Poor Students
New Brunswick, X. J . — ( I P ) —
Five-hour instead of three-hour
courses for freshmen whose high
school training seemed to he inadequate has been advocated at
Rutgers university by Dean Walter T. Marvin as a means of
equalizing the education of the
university's students.
The dean said the purpose of
the proposed system would he to
enable instructors to proceed mure
slowly and review the fouudat.uns
of the subjects for students who
required more complete preparation. Students in both the three
and five hour courses would stud:.
for the same achievements and Use
the same textbooks, Dean Marvin
said.

Dr. J a m e s I. W y e r , director of

several a n n o u n c e m e n t s concerning the use made of the borrowing system by State college students,
Dr. W y e r writes—"A number
of g r a d u a t e students from the
S t a t e college w h o appear t o have
been teachers at some time, are
u r g i n g this standing as w a r r a n t

prefer to regard their present
status as that of students at the
State college, and do not care
to issue individual cards.
" W e are suggesting to them,
however, that they apply at the
College library and that if that
can not furnish the books desired w e are perfectly willing to
lend to that library, for the use
of these students, those that we
have available."
Miss Mary E. Cobb, College

books.
