New York State College For Teachers, Albany ,N. Y
Bummer, 1932
W i l l i perhaps one or two exceptions, there will he no long filial examinations this summer session, according to an announcement of Dr.
M. (.. Nelson, director.
I he general policy regarding examination this summer will he that I
the instructors w i l l give at least
three full-period examinations during the course of the Slimmer session.
Instead of the customary
two hour final examinations, single
period tests will he given.
In making
this
announcement,
Dr. Nelson explained that it is possible that a few of the instructors
may hud it advisable to arrange for j
regular length final examinations,
due to the difficulty in testing the j
studi nts adequately in single period
tests.
In this wi e, the instructor
will make the announcement to the
class, and will arrange to conduct
the final examination at a time to hi'
designated.

Ihe choice of •' I'aghacci"
for

is a wise one, as Leoncavallo's - h u r l

purposes. Then again, tin work enjoys a popularity that adds to its
possibilities as a commercial vehicle.
Novelty has been introduced into
the picturization of this opera by
including a ballet in the first act and
again at the opening of the second,
adding to the action and picture as
well.
Mr. Hallo selected the cast and
ensemble w i t h the same tare that is
exercised by the major picture companies, w i t h due consideration of
the vocal and picture requirements.
Ihe musical director. Carlo l'eroui,
habeen M r . Hallo's opera conductor for a number of years and
one of the most able in the operatic
field.
Il is general opinion thai the piclure and vocal recordings, also the
orchestra effects are produced in
distinctly superior manner.
