Communication Strategies in the
Enumclaw School District
FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
I am thrilled to be able to share some information about our
incredible school district with you. I hope you will take the
time to peruse this brochure as well as access some of the
informational pieces via technology about our school district. I truly appreciate your partnership and support as we
build an amazing school district for the children of Black
Diamond and Enumclaw.
Our Schools
Our Students
The district has one high school
(Enumclaw High School) grades 9-12,
two middle schools (Enumclaw Middle
School and Thunder Mountain Middle
School) grades 6-8, and five elementary schools (Byron Kibler, Black Diamond, Southwood, Sunrise, Westwood)
grades K-5. The district also has an Early
Childhood and Parenting (ECEAP) and
Preschool program.
Enumclaw School District students are
the heart of what we do. Everything we
do is designed to help our students learn
and do well in school. Walk into any
Enumclaw school and you will see students who are academically strong, and
who demonstrate leadership and care in
serving their communities.
To us, success is all about making sure
each child has opportunities to learn
and achieve. We do this by offering a
wide variety of programs and by ensuring each student gets the attention he
or she needs. Options include:
• Advanced Placement
• English as a Second Language
• Individual Achievement
• Magic Strings
• Vocational/Technical
• Core Knowledge
• Art Focus
Family Friendly Support Staff
More than 595 district employees provide
exemplary customer service to parents
and visitors coming to our schools and
offices for information or assistance.
Please feel free to share your personal
experiences with our staff.
More Students Take Advanced Placement
More Enumclaw High school students are
now enrolling in and completing Advanced Placement courses than ever before. These rigorous courses help students
earn university credit while still in high
school and can save families thousands of
dollars in college tuition.
National Certification Accelerates Here
Enrollment - 4,553 (K-12)
A total of 12 Enumclaw School District
teachers have earned National Board
certification, which confirms a teacher’s
effective instructional practices based
on high academic standards. Twelve
teachers have completed the requirements this spring. Fifteen more will tackle
the rigorous year-long certification during
the 2008-09 school year.

(First Monday of each month)
The Board of Directors meets on the first Monday of
each month to engage in a conversation with
district staff members about critical issues and goals
of the district
Collaborative
Relationships
he Enumclaw School District
could not provide all of its
programs and services without
the support and involvement of
parents and other vital partners.
Parents play a critical role in their
child’s educational success.
Children need to know that their
parents think education is important. Our district and its families
have diverse needs and various
groups assist in the support of
those needs. The PTA partners
with the District to assist in making well-informed decisions.
Several other partnerships and
organizations, such as the City of
Enumclaw, City of Black Diamond, Enumclaw Police Department, Black Diamond Police
Department, Fire Department,
Library and Taxpayers work
directly with the District to
support our work.
