POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Program Coordinator, Distance Education Exempt CATEGORY: Professional GRADE: C JOB SUMMARY: Provide professional administrative support for the district’s Distance Education academic programs, i.e., Instructional Television, Interactive Videoconferencing, and Webbased/Internet Instruction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 1. Assist the Director of Instructional Support Services in the scheduling of distance education programs, in the development of program evaluation instruments to monitor the effectiveness of the Distance Education Network, and in the assessment of community needs for additional distance education courses and the appropriate delivery options. 25% 2. Coordinate student support services with the appropriate college departments, as well as the distribution and maintains library of instructional material, e.g. ensures all ITV tapes are available at KCOS TV, Center for Instructional Telecommunications, and campus libraries. 25% 3. Provide support to faculty in all distance education delivery options to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of instructional materials such as certified rosters, grade records, equipment, and ensures information for faculty is readily available. Provide professional administrative support to the Distant Education academic programs to include, but not limited to, conducting orientation sessions, prepare and distribute instructional packets for students, and ensures facilities will accommodate instructional delivery, i.e. maintain supplies, equipment, and information is readily accessible. Assist in resolving issues that arise in the day-to-day delivery of the Distant Education academic programs. 25% 4. Assist and participate in marketing and outreach activities as they relate to Distance Education. Act as liaison and provides support services to high school administrators and students. Work closely with the office of Recruitment and School Relations in the early admissions and dual credit efforts. Coordinate and participate in community outreach presentations to promote distance education programs to the current EPCC students and recruit potential students. 15% 5. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent EXPERIENCE: Five (5) Years SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: • Strong interpersonal and cognitive skills. • The ability to successfully plan, schedule, and coordinate multiple activities. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 2. Equipment Used: Personal computer, videoconferencing equipment, and a variety of other equipment that is associated with the delivery of Distance Education. 3. Software Used: A variety of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties as a result of repetitive motion of fingers and arms, long periods of standing, and/or long periods of sitting. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
