POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Publications Manager Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional E JOB SUMMARY: Manage the coordination and production of all District publications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Coordinate layouts and pre-press scheduling; edit and prepare copy rewrites; proof final copy; approve all customized publications printing and contracts external printing services. May arrange delivery and distribution. 2. Responsible for all aspects of outsourcing printed materials, to include inspecting for quality; preparing bids; obtaining quotes; and working with printers to coordinate timelines, specifications, best value and quality; monitoring invoicing, Board approved bid amounts, and billing. 20% 3. Consult with Department heads; assess marketing and publication needs; advise appropriate strategy; develop format, content, cost, timelines, etc., for various flyers, publications, catalogs, schedules, annual reports. 20% 4. Manage the daily operations of the Customer Relations and Graphic Arts components of the Print Shop, including job intake, scheduling, typesetting, design, proof-reading, quality control and billing. 15% 5. Develop budget recommendations; manage approved budget. 10% 6. Develop and present in-house workshops (marketing strategies, publication writing, etc.) to faculty and administrative staff. 5% 7. Develop, recommend and evaluate short- and long-range goals and objectives; ensure staff training and implementation of approved plans; modify as appropriate. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Associate Vice President of Marketing & External Affairs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision as a first-line supervisor to staff assigned. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: Departmental budget. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree. Skills/Abilities: Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills; proficient computer skills; and ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the institution, to include faculty and administration. 2. Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials.
