POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Manager, Media Production Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional D JOB SUMMARY: Oversee and participate in the design and production of mediated materials requested by District faculty, staff and eligible external organizations for instructional and promotional uses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Plan production efforts, including script preparation, searching for and arranging for recording locations, recruiting and preparing performers, scheduling participation of personnel and use of equipment. 2. Provide training, supervision and leadership to other Media Production staff. 20% 3. Consult with District’s faculty and staff to identify problems in instructional or promotional communications and devise mediate solutions that contribute to the College’s mission; continually study other current media productions and communicate with other media professionals to remain aware of the standards of quality, new technology developments and to learn more efficient and effective methods of production. 20% 4. Combine audio and visual materials to meet the specific needs of District faculty, staff and eligible external organizations for instructional other purposes. 15% 5. Conduct recording sessions at multiple locations and various times, directing performers and crew in order to capture the required visuals and sounds and create additional visual and sound effects and select music to accompany the recorded material. 10% 6. Prepare and maintain monthly reports of production activities, their cost and effectiveness. 5% 7. Duplicate and distribute programs in the required formats. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director, Center for Instructional Telecommunications SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to staff assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree. Effective: 9/1/03 Page 1 of 2 EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Good organizational and time management skills; effective communication skills both oral and written; and must be able to translate a client’s concept into effective visual and audio communication. 2. Equipment Used: Professional video cameras, recorders, processors and measuring devices; microphones, sound recorders and processors; lighting instruments and control devices; Windows workstation. 3. Software Used: A variety of Graphics sound recording and editing, video composting and video editing software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties requires physical effort in work with light to moderately heavy (up to 20lbs), materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
