POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Grants Management Specialist Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional C JOB SUMMARY: Provide professional support and assistance to the Office of Grants Management by researching, developing, writing and monitoring externally funded grants, contracts and cooperative agreements that support and complement the mission of the College. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Working with faculty and/or professional staff of the College, develop funding applications/proposals for grants, contracts or cooperative agreements, ensuring content is complete, of best quality and highly competitive. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40% 2. Monitor assigned externally funded projects to ensure compliance with approved goals and schedules; adherence to approved budgets; development and submission of amendments as necessary, including interim and final performance reports. 40% 3. Use internet, journals and other sources to research, identify and evaluate prospective external funding sources for which the college is eligible and which meets the Grants Management strategic plan; issue availability alerts to appropriate College offices /staff and provide interpretation of program goals, application requirements and funding and funding and administrative/management requirements for each prospective source as needed or requested. 10% 4. Provide technical expertise in the grants process for College faculty and professional staff and for staff of community organizations, including one-on-one and small group consultations and serve as instructor for seminars, workshops and structured classes. 10% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Manager, Grants Management ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years experience. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
