POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: GED Coordinator Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified F JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate the day to day operations and testing activities of the GED Testing Center for the El Paso Community College District. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Coordinate the day to day operations and testing activities of the GED Testing Center, to include, publicizing testing schedules and services, maintaining internal billing records, monitor and process billing request to pay for test materials and scoring services, retrieves on-line GED records posts and retrieves test score information from departmental data base files; maintains client testing record files; compile statistical data for departmental and state reports; assist in the completion of GED test application; answer phone; greet clients; schedule test appointments using computerized appointment system. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40% 2. Serve as an Alternate Chief Examiner (ACE) for GED test Administration; administer and monitor the GED tests within established standardized guidelines required by the GED Testing Services (Washington, D.C.) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA); verify client identity and eligibility to test according to GEDTS and TEA guidelines; maintain strict test security to prevent loss or compromise of the GED test instruments. 30% 3. Provide on going direction and work assignment to assigned testing staff; provide performance feedback and conduct performance appraisals for assigned staff; coordinate staff work schedules and verify work hours of assigned staff for director’s signature; provide staff training on proper test proctoring; evaluate, develop, implement new testing procedures as needed to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and test publisher requirements. 20% 4. Consult with other college departments, coordinator and instructional staff of city wide preparation programs, and other outside agencies on routine GED testing issues; provide informational briefings/orientations and promotional literature to groups to heighten awareness of GED testing services available; participate in various institutional committees and special projects as assigned. 10% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Assistant Director of Testing Services SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to assigned staff. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must be eligible for certification as a Alternate Chief Examiner to assist with GED test administration as needed. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Ability to analyze problems and provides solutions, strong interpersonal skills, ability to provide leadership and supervise a work team, strong computer skills. 2. Equipment Used: Personal computer, scanner, typewriter, copy machine, fax machine and paper shredder. 3. Software Used: WordPerfect, Access, Excel, Reflections, Quattro Pro, Presentations, Internet Skills, Power Point, Group Wise, DOS, Computerized testing software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties. Duties require sitting for long period of times. Duties require long periods of standing. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
