POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Financial Aid Coordinator FA Coordinator, Scholarships & Exemptions Non-exempt CATEGORY: Classified GRADE: F JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Manager with administration, planning and coordination of a designated program, department or unit within the Financial Aid Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for coordinating all activities related to the management of scholarships to include; determining eligibility, processing applications, preparing necessary reports, posting awards on Student Information System, tracking and verifying continued eligibility and maintenance of resource library of scholarship opportunities. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 2. Responsible for coordinating all activities related to the administration of tuition waivers and exemptions to include keeping abreast of all state rules and regulations related to waivers and exemptions. 25% 3. Responsible for receipt, disbursement and reconciliation of scholarship funds. 15% 4. Inures scholarship information on the financial aid web page is current and up to date; and maintains Scholar X database to promote scholarship opportunities. 10% 5. Serve as a liaison with internal departments, donors and external agencies (i.e. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board) in matters related to exemptions and scholarships. 10% 6. Assist in evaluation of aid eligibility and awarding of aid; advise students and families regarding all aspects of student financial aid programs and delivery system. 5% 7. Conduct Financial Aid workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community. 5% 8. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years financial aid experience SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Proficient computer skills, effective verbal and written communication and good interpersonal skills; ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously. Ability to work independently, trouble shoot and problem solve; effective verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal and organization skills. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
