The director will serve as a liaison between EPCC and UTEP and the Region 19 school districts. Plan, direct and oversee all aspects of the College Readiness Initiative to ensure its effective implementation and evaluation. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION College Readiness Initiative (CRI) and the College Connection Program (CCP) were created to increase the number of high school graduates with the motivation, access and preparation to succeed in college. The goal is aligned with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s plan, Closing the Gaps by 2015. The ambitious goal is to add 630,000 more Texas students to the rosters of post secondary institutions. This position serves a large community based function. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Provide effective direction, leadership and strategic objectives to College Readiness efforts in the El Paso region. Develop and oversee implementation of the College Readiness Initiative (CRI) and the College Connection Program (CCP) to ensure effective implementation and evaluation. Oversee operational management to include programs, projects, and grants for the CRI and CCP. 2. Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff at UTEP, EPCC and Region 19 ISD’s to promote effective and consistent implementation of CRI components and CCP efforts. 25% 3. Organize and conduct meetings, prepare and present training/information sessions within the El Paso region and to other external constituencies to effect the dissemination, implementation, and follow-up of the CRI and CCP program. Coordinate all efforts and activities associated with area high schools for presentations, testing, applications, interventions, data exchange, and data reports in relation to CRI and CCP. 20% 4. Provide personnel management, direction and guidance to staff and faculty including performance appraisal, coaching, personal and professional development. 10% 5. Develop and manage the CRI and CCP budget. Prepare, develop, and manage any related grant opportunities and awards associated with college readiness. 5% 6. Prepare presentations to local, state and national affiliations on El Paso’s CRI and CCP efforts and results. Travel associated with program activities to include both in-town and out-of-town. 5% 7. Participate in state agency and legislative policy working groups to develop and implement legislation related to college readiness. Update EPCC’s Board of Trustees and college faculty and staff on college readiness and college connection activities. 8. Other duties as assigned. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Instructional Dean SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct and indirect supervisory responsibility of assigned staff BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: Departmental budget ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s degree EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years related experience to include a combination of successful teaching experience, successful administrative or supervisory experience, and proven involvement with college readiness at some level. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and insurable by the district’s auto liability insurance carrier. Background and fingerprint required. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Must possess an understanding of general office practices, to include computer literacy, organizational skills, and strong interpersonal/communication skills (oral and written). Understanding and functional knowledge of tutoring methods and practices with regard to college readiness. Must have proven experience working with other organizations, institutions, and/or schools. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, effective communication and problem solving skills for a variety of circumstances. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Understanding of instructional and administrative procedures within a university, community college and high school setting. Read, analyze, and interpret state and federal regulations. Understanding of methodologies and interpretation of data for evaluation purposes. Must have effective organizational and planning skills with ability to multi-task. Must possess ability to effectively present information publicly. Must be able to develop and cultivate business relationships. Must have effective use of tact and diplomacy. 2.
