Reimbursement for Expenses
Under the provisions of Section 5-516 and 5-516.1, of the Pennsylvania School Code, expenses
associated with the attendance of board members or the nonmember secretary at state or national
conventions of school directors or at other educational conventions which will be of educational or
financial benefit to the district may be reimbursed from district funds. The law provides for
expenses associated with travel to and from the convention, lodging and meals, and registration.
Board members shall provide an itemized statement of expenses, approved by the board president,
to the business office for payment by the treasurer. Advance payment of anticipated expenses may
be provided upon presentation of a statement of estimated expenses to the business office. In such
an event, an itemized statement of actual expenses is required so that adjustments may be made
as are necessary to balance payments with actual expenses.
