Dispensing of Medication to Students
The dispensing of medication to students by school personnel shall be done only as prescribed by
physicians. In the event that a student is directed by a physician to take medication during school
hours, instructions to that effect from the student’s own physician to the school nurse or other
responsible employee is sufficient authorization to carry out the order.
The dispensing of aspirin or other nonprescription medications may be carried out only as directed
by the school’s physicians in “standard operating procedures” distributed by the director of student
services and posted in each health suite in the district.
