19:02-1922 Presentation by the School District
Art Goes to School program ~ provided an overview about the program and how they work with the schools within the District. They presented samples of art that they would be showing the students. Volunteers are needed for next school year!
Volunteers meet weekly, Friday mornings, to discuss and research artists. Volunteers then come into the school and present information about various artists and the genre.
Great learning experience for the students. Wonderful way to get the students interested in a variety of artists and asking questions. The lessons for the students are based on their age and interests. This is a supplemental program for students that builds on what they are learning in art class.
This program also extends to Senior Homes in the Spring once all the school programs have wrapped up.
February 22-26 th ~ they will come to the school to do presentations for each grade level.

MLK Day
(KFTC)
Kids for their Community ~ getting kids excited about their community. Host family community service activities; gets them into doing regular service.
City Team ~ 70 + packages for Homeless
Deco rated placemats for Hope Café ~ Saturday nights they decorate the whole place and families can go and get served a nice dinner followed by a worship service.
SPCS ~ toys for animals at the shelter
Write letters to the Troops.
Collect books, shoes, …
All the projects are done in-house ~ one of the first was hosted at Indian Lane. Not only profits the charity groups but also the children!
Potential Ideas for MLK Day:
Community Recycling ~ shoes! They give you boxes with a label and the students bring shoes and put them in the boxes. The kids then also draw a picture/write a note and place it with the shoes. The shoes are then sent around the world. There is a code on the label and the person who receives the shoes can write back.
Cradles to Crayons ~ Warehouse in a box
Set up stations and the kids check the items to be sure they are in ‘good’ condition. Stations can be set up around the cafeteria then items are boxed up and sent off.
City Team has a similar program.
Shawn ~ we need someone to take the lead on MLK Day.
Erin Lievens
Erin recommends that there is a number of projects that happen at the same time and the students rotate through the different activities. Erin is willing to help in any way she can but is not able to take it on herself due to work obligations.
