Fulfilled role of research assistant. Duties included co-leading a rehabilitation group in
conjunction with a physical therapist for adult patients who had suffered a stroke or traumatic
brain injury. I was also responsible for kinematic data collection and analysis on three studies
involving gait training with patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease, children with cerebral
palsy, and traumatic brain injury.

Fulfilled role of teaching assistant. Duties included co-facilitating an undergraduate research
colloquium, co-teaching a music therapy improvisation course, and supervising 8-12 practicum
students per semester in a variety of clinical settings.

Practiced as a music therapist with groups of adolescents attending music therapy sessions that
were offered at a nearby community center. Formal diagnoses included Post-Traumatic Stress
Disorder and Acute Anxiety Disorder.

Worked as a music therapist in a rehabilitation setting with patients ranging in age from birth to 19
years in various neurological, physical and psychiatric diagnostic categories. Duties included
planning, implementing, and documenting group and individual sessions in conjunction with
physical, occupational, and speech therapists, social workers, psychologists, and teachers. I have
used MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) technology extensively in the clinical setting and
use many electronic/adaptive devices as well as being proficient in traditional acoustic
instruments such as piano, guitar and voice.

Fall 1993
Worked as a part time and substitute music therapist after completing a 6-month internship at this
setting. Planned, implemented, and documented group and individual sessions for adult and
adolescent acute care psychiatric patients with diagnosis including: schizophrenia, bipolar,
depression, multiple personality, borderline personality, emotionally impaired, behavior disorders,
bulimia, and anorexia-nervosa.
