News Worth Reading:
Color Spirit Day: We have rescheduled this spirit day for October 13, 2015. I was rescheduled from October 2nd, due to
rain. Students should wear these colors on this day: K-Violet, 1-Dk Blue, 2-Lt Blue, 3-Green, 4-Yellow, 5-Orange, and 6Red
Student Absences: Please remember to call the office if your child will not be in school. Calling the office and providing
an excuse will ensure that that we document your child’s absence in the proper way. It is the job of each school to
ensure that each missing child is safe at home. Your help with this is greatly appreciated!
Dismissal Changes: As mentioned at Back-to-School Night, the dismissal of our students is something that we take very
serious. Each child should come to school knowing how they will be traveling home. For many students this method of
transportation home will not change from day-to-day.
If you need to change your child’s method of transportation home, or departure time, the following must take place in
order to ensure your child arrives safely to their destination:
Either…
Send your child to school with a note indicating what time they will be picked up OR the change of the departure
method (example: John Doe should report to parent pick-up today and NOT take bus 88)
OR
A parent or guardian must contact the school office via phone before noon to alert us of these changes. Teachers are
teaching during the day, so email messages may not be viewed until long after dismissal. Providing this information to
the office before noon ensure that your child will be ready for early pick up, or that their dismissal change gets
communicated in a timely manner.
Getting every child home safe and sound is a huge task. Your help with this is greatly appreciated!
Mr. Winkle’s Mailbox: Starting on Monday I am going to have a mailbox in the lobby for student use. Students will be
encouraged to write to me and my hope is to write back to as many students as possible. Since I am still relatively
“new” our students have tons of questions that they keep asking me. This mailbox will help them to get answers, as well
as to promote writing in all grade levels. More details will be shared on Monday’s morning announcements. Getting to
know each student is a top priority of mine, so I am looking forward to receiving their letters!
Fun Fact: We have completed 20 days of school. This means that 11% of our school year is now complete! Only 89% of
our journey remains to be traveled.
Parent Nights at North Penn: Dr. Betty Santoro (Director of Elementary Education) is hosting 2 informational sessions
for parents to discuss the changes being made to the elementary report cards. Session 1 is Monday evening at GwynNor and will be held in their library. Session 2 is Tuesday evening in the Walton Farm cafeteria. These sessions were
designed to help keep you informed. I would encourage you to attend one of these sessions if you are able to do so.

Walk to School Day: Nash will be participating in National Walk to School Day on Wednesday. This event is being
supported by the North Penn Security Team, Towamencin Police Department, as well as the Nash Home&School
Association. Students traveling to school by bus will be dropped off at the intersection of Liberty Bell & Bishopwood
Blvd East. Walkers should walk to school, using their traditional route. Parent drop-off will still take place at the lowerparking lot of the school. I would like to applaud our physical education teacher: Jen Johnson for helping to organize this
annual event!
Parent Conferences: Information regarding fall conferences will be sent home early this week, which will include
information pertaining to how you can sign up for a conference spot.
Communication with YOU: Being informed enables each of us to better help our students excel in school. Much of this
valuable communication is coming to you directly from your child’s teacher(s) via emails or classroom newsletters. Our
Home&School communicates with you via their Facebook page, as well as the communication envelopes that travel
home with your student. It is my goal to communicate with you weekly, via a phone call and/or email message, such as
this letter. It is my goal to keep you up-to-date and informed! Your feedback is always welcome, as we work together to
help each child succeed at Nash!
Thank you! For your ongoing help and support! Have a great weekend!
