What will you be doing for the next

5 to 6 weeks?

• You are going to be applying all of the knowledge and skills you have learned about Engineering Design. It must solve some kind of design problem that has a POSITIVE impact on society or the environment. You will be researching, designing, and creating a product of your choosing. This product must be marketable (people will want to buy it).

• Think of this as an Engineering Fair project, similar to a Science Fair project.

• You will work in teams of three (3) (we may have 1 or 2 teams that have more if we have to but teacher will make that decision).

• All research and paperwork must be in a 1” 3 ring binder and have all of the paperwork organized per the checklist and grading rubric.

• Product prototype must made out of 3-10 different types of material.

• Prototype and display board must fit into a space no bigger than:

– 3’-0” Wide, 1’-3” Deep, and 4’-0” High.

Remember Proper Presentation

Etiquette

• Even if the information you must present is boring, do NOT show that!

• Do your best to make it interesting or

10

Remember Proper Presentation

Etiquette (cont’d.)

• You know what you are going to say and how you are going to say it.

Being confident will get your message across so much better than a presentation filled with “ums” and “hold on” and,

“Oh! I forgot about that!”

Remember Proper Presentation

Etiquette (cont’d.)

• If you are using a slideshow to communicate your message, you don’t read the screen to your audience.

They (hopefully) know how to read.

Proper presentation etiquette means you keep your audience engaged by using your slides as key points and building off of them in your speech.

Time to get to work!

• Congratulations you are now on the LAST part of this unit!

• You can do this because it’s just a combination of all the knowledge skills you have learned to date.

• Refer back to this PPT and the handout or rubrics when you have questions about what is required.

• I will NOT answer any questions unless you ask three (3) other teams what it is you are supposed to do AND all four (4) of the teams ask me the same question at once.

• Your presentation grade will count as your practical part of the final for this class.
