Institute for Public Administration School of Public Policy & Administration College of Arts & Sciences University of Delaware About the Institute Dates and Locations The Advanced Institute is held on June 20–24 at the University of Delaware main campus in Newark, Del., with field visits to Washington, D.C. and Dover, Del. Two Ways to Apply Teachers may apply to (1) earn professionaldevelopment recertification hours and PIP credit at no cost or (2) enroll for summer session graduate credit (in which case they will be responsible for in-state tuition and registration fees). Course The Democracy Project aims to inspire youth involvement in government and politics through improvements in teaching and curriculum. The Advanced Institute is designed to build on participants’ knowledge of the Delaware Civics Standards and content by providing educators with a deeper understanding of topics relating to this year’s local, state, and national elections. Scholars meet with key political and government leaders involved with elections at the local, state, and national levels as well as civics education specialists who will provide guided practice in the use of standards-based election lessons. Enrollment Deadline Early application is requested by March 31. Applications are viewed on a first-come, first-served basis through a rolling admissions process. Housing Housing can be provided on the University’s Newark campus for teachers from Kent and Sussex Counties (double-occupancy rooms).
