ROLE: You are the social media strategist for a non-profit organization. SITUATION: A natural disaster has devastated a nearby community. Create a hash-tag, social media post and original photo that you can share on various social media platforms to gain awareness and interest for this community. Using the suggested techniques found in the handout titled Social media Strategies, find a creative and original way to get your message out and engage in conversation with potential supporters. Your ideas should be creative, original and at the same time, sensitive to the people of the community. Remember, you goal is to generate funds to help support this community and your campaign will be measured in how much money is raised. Who is the intended target audience? 2. What is the goal of the response from the user? 3. Where is the user being directed: to a webpage or is the goal to just inform/ engage them in conversation? 4. Is the post to be followed by an influencer or brand advocate for the cause? 5. How often is someone available to respond to and monitor posts? ### HASHTAG CREATION: A hashtag is a type of metatag used on social media to help readers find content, brands and causes on social media sites and represents your voice and image. 1. The hashtag should reflect the cause 2. Use capital letters when necessary 3. Make it informative and concise 4. Quality over quantity – a. don’t use too many hash-tags in your post 5. Keep your hash-tag to 20 characters SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING TECHNIQUES: Do you engage users by: Asking a question? Creating a caption for a photo?
