BT MyDonate
BT MyDonate is a fundraising service that doesn’t take commission.
No set-up fees. No percentage. No extra hassle.
As part of BT’s commitment to society, BT MyDonate is run using 1% of our pre-tax profits, so we can provide
a much-needed free platform for UK charities. With our service you can give more, and give freely.
Charitable causes increasingly rely on third-party services for donations. But many others take commission.
It may only be a small slice – 2% here or 5% there – but it all adds up when you’re trying to raise desperatelyneeded cash for a good cause. That’s where BT MyDonate is different. The only charges you’ll see are the
standard 15p flat-rate fee for a debit card transaction, or a 1.3% credit card charge. Beyond that, every
penny donated goes straight to charity as intended. And we think that’s the way it should be.

UK-based charity. We’re proud to be trusted by high street banks, the UK government and HM Revenue &
Customs, among others.

Case Study:
SThree and SOS Children
With 2,500 staff across the world, and offices in 20 different
countries, British-based recruitment company SThree has a “work
hard, play hard” philosophy, according to CEO Gary Elden. But they
never lose sight of giving something back.
Since 2009, SThree has been one of SOS Children’s Transformational
Corporate Partners. In SThree’s five-year partnership with SOS
Children, they’ve supported 80 orphans and abandoned youngsters
in Zambia. This included contribution to the development of a new
SOS Children’s Village in Chipata, Zambia – one of the world’s most
deprived and disease-hit areas – and building the “SThree House”
in Chipata.
To keep this fantastic work going, SThree committed to raising half
a million pounds for the charity in a variety of ways, including
marathon running, charity events and dress-down days – matching
all funds raised by their employees.
SThree chose to use BT MyDonate because it’s commission- and
fee-free. This means if £500,000 is raised through BT MyDonate,
there is the potential for the charity to get an extra £25,000 when
compared with similar services. And that goes a long way in Zambia.
On top of that, the BT MyDonate service is quick and easy for the
charity and donors to use so they can reach that target more easily.
BT created MyDonate to help people give to good causes more
securely and simply. With BT MyDonate charities get the whole
contribution – as well as the full 25% Gift Aid. There are no fees (except
those charged by a donor’s debit or credit card company) or setup
charges for charities. This means for every £10 given through
MyDonate, up to 63p more will go straight to the charity compared
with other online fundraising services.
BT MyDonate is by far
the most cost-effective
fundraising website for
us. Every single penny
that we raise goes straight
to the charity. How can
you beat that?
Gary Elden, CEO of SThree
BT: Using the power
of communications
to make a better world
At BT, we use the power of communications to make
a better world. Through our networks, technology
and with our expertise. Meeting the needs of our
customers, delivering the experience, products and
services that matter to them.
And supporting our communities through our
people and technology. We’ve got big ambitions
that we want to reach by 2020, like helping to raise
£1 billion for good causes. We’ll do that through our
free fundraising service BT MyDonate, as well as the
hundreds of bake sales and sports events our people
organise and take part in for charity every year.
But it’s not just individual fundraisers and charities
who use our commission-free service. We also
support big telethon appeals from the likes of Comic
Relief and the Disasters Emergency Committee,
building on the long-standing partnerships we’ve
forged with them.

How to get involved
with BT MyDonate...
…as a charity
It costs nothing to register with BT MyDonate. Virgin Money Giving charges a one-off fee of £100 + VAT.
JustGiving charges £15 every month. With no set-up fees, and no commission, BT MyDonate is by far the
better option for your cause. Add Gift Aid, and you’ll end up giving even more. We welcome all UK charities
registered with the Charity Commission or the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Charities in
Northern Ireland and Community Amateur Sports Clubs need to have charity status with HMRC. This also
applies to other charities in the UK who are exempt from formal registration with the Charity Commission
or OSCR.
…as a business
We think corporate social responsibility is more than just a chore. It’s an opportunity to make the world a
better place – for businesses and for society. BT MyDonate is one way we honour our commitment to society,
and it can also help you make sure your chosen charitable causes get the most from your donations. Charities
are losing thousands of pounds in commission daily, especially with big business philanthropy, which is now
heavily relied on. You can use BT MyDonate to make sure all the money you raise goes straight to your cause.
…as a volunteer
As long as the charity you want to raise funds for has registered with BT MyDonate, you can start supporting
them right away – safe in the knowledge that all your hard-won donations will make it to the intended cause
without a cut being taken by middle-men along the way. Using BT MyDonate you can give freely, either direct
to charity or by setting up your own fundraising page. If your chosen charity is not yet registered with BT
MyDonate, you can help get them signed up on the BT MyDonate website: bt.com/mydonate.
