Outline
Outline (LSI Quadrant II):
Instructor Notes:
Write objectives on the board before class.
I. Introduction
A.
Write objectives on board
Answer any questions.
II. Show PowerPoint
Bring in various types of
testers for students to view.
Instructors can use the
PowerPoint presentation, B.
and weblink in C. in conjunction
with the following.
Outline
A. Safety first
B. List testers
Discuss various types of
injuries from electrical shock
Think of having a student
assistwith demonstrating.
Give students assisting extra
credit.
III. Demonstrate each tester
IV. Break into groups for testing
III. Review steps and problems encountered
Think of a local construction
expert, electrician or builder
who can come in and speak to
your class about electrical
safety on the job.
Application
Guided Practice (LSI Quadrant III):
One of two students assist instructor with demonstration. Then break into small groups
to test. Have students spot-check each other to make sure they are following
procedures.
Independent Practice (LSI Quadrant III):
Use this time to evaluate the students and to check their understanding of the lesson as
presented to them. Spending extra time at this point with the group or student that is not
understanding, will help in the final formal grading phase.

The informal assessment starts when the class begins watching the PowerPoint
presentation and continues through to include participation in class discussion, guided
and independent practice sessions involvement and participation, review and
application.
Formal Assessment (LSI Quadrant III, IV):
Each phase will have a percentage factor assigned to it resulting a 100% when all
totaled:
25% -- Classroom and review involvement
50% -- Guided and independent practice
25% -- Authentic assessment
Rubric presents a basis for grading student work and performance for the authentic
assessment piece.
Extension/Enrichment (LSI Quadrant IV):
Learners can use this information for a variety of purposes in the future in keeping safe
at work, and home.
