The Home Depot awarded a $50,000 grant to Elizabeth City State University for its participation in the Retool
Your School grant contest that pitted ECSU against 62 other historically black colleges and universities. The
“Retool Your School” grant program is designed to provide resources to Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs) nationwide for campus improvements. Elizabeth City State University will use the grant
to begin ground-breaking for a baseball field. This facility will also open the door for more community
activities to be held on our campus.

SuccessFest is WRVS’ annual membership drive and was created to raise funds
to offset the expenses of daily operations, quality programming, staffing,
student training, and equipment upgrades.
Did you know that 89.9, WRVS-FM/HD is the local area’s public radio
offering and has been servicing Northeastern North Carolina and
Southeastern Virginia for 25 years? March 18, 2011 marks the 25th
Anniversary for WRVS and we have so much to celebrate! During the
week March 20-26, 2011, the students and staff of WRVS will continue to
celebrate the station’s silver anniversary with SuccessFest 2011.
For more information on how you can make a donation or pledge your support to SuccessFest 2011 ,
please contact Melba Smith, General Manager, at (252) 335-3985 or a mybrown@mail.ecsu.edu.
WRVS is a National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Radio International (PRI) affiliate.
