PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 10, 2016 FOR MORE INFORMATION: Michael Ward Riverview School District 425-844-4528/wardmi@riverview.wednet.edu Leslie Cohan Shattuck Lake Washington Institute of Technology 425-739-8236/leslie.cohan@lwtech.edu RIVERVIEW ACQUIRES LAKE WASHINGTON INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PROPERTY IN DUVALL Duvall, Wash. – The Riverview School District has purchased 10 acres of property, formerly owned by Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech), in Duvall, Washington. The sale has been unanimously approved by the LWTech Board of Trustees and the Riverview School District Board of Directors. This purchase culminates approximately two months of negotiations between the organizations, with the purchase price of the property, located at 14110 – 268th Avenue N.E., totaling $1.9 million. As significant growth continues to occur within Riverview at the elementary school level, the district indicates the property is slated to be used to build a fourth elementary school, with two existing school sites, Cherry Valley Elementary and Stillwater Elementary, already close to full capacity. “This is a win-win for LWTech and the Riverview School District,” said Dr. Amy Morrison Goings, president of Lake Washington Institute of Technology. “As our college continues to try and fill the funding gaps from state cuts to community and technical colleges, the sale of the Duvall property will help us invest in new programs and respond to industry and community educational needs. We’re pleased that this property will help the school district serve its growing community.” Riverview Superintendent Dr. Anthony L. Smith states that he could not be more excited for the District to acquire this property. “I am elated about this acquisition. Bigger expanses of property within urban growth boundaries are becoming scarce. That we could come up with a fair arrangement for the Riverview School District, resulting in this purchase, is significant. I look forward to the potential of a fourth elementary school at this location in the future.” -more- Riverview School District Acquires Property/Page 2 February 10, 2016 About Lake Washington Institute of Technology: As the only public institute of technology in Washington state, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace.
