Since 1891, we have proudly served students from around the country, across the state and most notably from northeastern North Carolina.
From our diverse academic offerings to our limitless campus life activities,
Elizabeth City State University
(ECSU) stands ready to provide the ultimate collegiate experience for aspiring college students.
We invite you to begin your discovery of ECSU with a review of our highlights contained in these materials. Then consider a virtual tour via our website at www.ecsu.edu - or better still, visit us in person on our 223-acre picturesque campus located in the waterfront community of Elizabeth
City, North Carolina.
Affectionately known as the Harbor of Hospitality, Elizabeth City is nestled in the northeastern corner of North Carolina on the
Pasquotank River and Intracoastal Waterway, the City lies just west of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and just south of Hampton
Roads, Virginia. Although our community is small it boasts an abundance of bookstores, coffeehouses, restaurants, art galleries, shopping centers, and specialty retail shops.
Our successful relationships and partnerships within the Elizabeth
City business community affords our students program benefits where they gain an abundance of hands-on experience at one of the U.S. Coast Guard’s busiest bases, including learning how to fly planes.
Outer Banks – 35 miles
Virgina Beach, VA - 61 miles
Raleigh – 138 miles
Washington DC – 185 miles
Greensboro – 198 miles
Charlotte – 266 miles
Atlanta – 493 miles
Just like our university, Elizabeth City is rich in history – yet progressive and growing. The inviting waterfront, lively downtown and thriving arts community create a vibrant setting for the place we Vikings call home.
