Many pe ople feel unable to influence the plans, either as inform ation is difficult to find or too technical. When local needs or loc al knowledge are ignored , people are seldom happ y with development in th eir area. ery ©200 7 DigitalG lobe. If this is of interest to you then come along to our Community Mapping Workshop on Saturday 27 October 2007 The workshop is the beginning of our mapping work in the Royal Docks. We will continue to work with the community over the coming year to develop the map. This is part of a wider project funded by the UrbanBuzz programme that aims to share knowledge and ideas between academics, organisations and local communities. This project is supported by the UCL-led UrbanBuzz Programme, within which UEL is a prime partner. For more information visit: www.urbanbuzz.org We are working with communities in East London and the Thames Gateway to: • Develop an online interactive local map as a community resource - a one-stop shop for anyone interested in the state of their community. • Train and support local people to contribute to and maintain their map • Establish a text-messaging system to inform local people about events in their area • Enhance community spirit and pride by bringing people together throughout the region to have a say in their community’s future, and learn more about their area and the people they share it with. How can I get involved? A free workshop is taking place where you can meet the project team, have your say about the map, and find out more about how you can get involved. w he r e d n a n W he ing? n e p p a is it h r 2007 Octobe 7 2 , y Saturda 3:30pm Ho w c an I r egiste for th r e wo r kshop ?
