Position Title: Communications Assistant Organization: The Creative City Network of Canada (CCNC) is a national non-profit organization made up of municipalities, organizations and individuals working to support cultural development in their communities. CCNC facilitates knowledge sharing and professional development in the field of local cultural planning, policy and research. Incorporated in 2002, CCNC has grown to an established network of over 120 members that directly serve approximately 16 million Canadians through annual conferences, toolkits, the Creative City e-Newsletter and list serve. Description: This internship will involve two projects, allowing the intern to work with both of the CCNC staff members. Project 1 - Peer-2-Peer Applications: Our annual Creative City Summit features both keynote speakers and peer-2-peer presenters. P2P presentation sessions are 45 minutes in total including a 15 minute question and answer period. They provide individuals working in the field of arts and culture to speak in front of their peers in order to share and raise the profile of their work in their community, and have a discussion with their colleagues. • Read and review submissions. • Summarize submissions in a reference spreadsheet • Send the committee all the applications and reference spreadsheet • Participate in national teleconference meetings regarding P2P selection • Respond to all P2P applicants • Advise successful applicants of next steps • Collect photos and bios from successful applicants • Post photos and bios on the website Summit page Project 2 - List Serve Sign Up: Our list serve is one of our new benefits of membership, and is directly connected to our members’ portal. The members’ portal is a members only section of our website that allows members to set up profiles and have direct access to CCNC members across the country. The list serve sign up is located within the members’ portal, and we as part of our membership drive we are trying to encourage as many members to sign up for and use the list serve in order to get the conversation started! • Play an exciting role in helping shape the new CCNC members’ portal and list serve by assisting members to set up their personal, municipal and organizational profile pages. • Connect with members who have not signed up for the list serve to offer assistance in signing up. Qualifications: Well organized with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a small office environment; Mac Proficient, with working knowledge of Excel; Strong customer services skills.
