Organization: Access Gallery is a non-profit artist-run-centre and acts as an important platform for emergent and experimental art practices in Vancouver. For more information about Access Gallery, please visit our website at: www.accessgallery.ca Description: Internships are project specific and are structured around one or more of the following focuses, in consultation with the Director/Curator (* denotes the position of most significance for this time frame) * Residency Administration Assistant: the role of this position is to assist the Director/Curator in administrating the organization’s new travelling artist residency, Twenty-three Days at Sea. Tasks will include correspondence with selected residency artists, booking flights, hotels etc, updating website and social media with residency info and announcements, and assisting the Director/Curator and Development Committee on running the Residency Kickstarter fundraising campaign. Qualifications: - strong written and verbal communication skills - experience with databases an asset - ability to work to deadline - self-directed work ethic - ability to work independently or in a team Other possible positions: Exhibition and Event Documentation: the role of this intern will be to photo- and videodocument the numerous programming events and exhibition held throughout the spring season Qualifications: • Strong photo skills, particularly of installation/exhibition documentation and working under lights • Strong post-production skills, adobe photoshop, illustrator, video editing • Self-directed work ethic, ability to work to deadline Digital Archive Management: We have spent summer 2014 reorganizing, preserving and cataloguing Access' significant material archive. The next step will be to organize and catalogue the digital archive. This position will have the opportunity to curate from the digital archive a series of images to feature on the online archive/access website Qualifications: • strong organizational, time-management and communication skills • experience working with administrative or archival systems or similar projects • self-directed work ethic • archiving experience an asset Communications Assistant: the role of this position is to assist in generating and circulating the Director/Curator in all communications emanating from the Gallery, including press releases, social media, e-mailouts, website updates. Qualifications: • excellent written and oral language skills • proven experience with wordpress, tumblr • proven experience with twitter, instagram • self-directed work ethic • highly sensitive to timelines and deadlines • excellent communication skills Access is seeking Internship applicants for the Summer 2015 semester. This is a 16-week contract (May-August 2015) with a possibility to extend, if appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to complete 120 hours of service (7-10 hours/wk) over the course of the term. Must be willing to work Saturdays.
