The books are really good and helpful but they take way too long to get. Sent request in before break, have a test next week and still don’t have the books. General Classroom Accommodation Comments: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. I realize that the teachers take the tables, but it really would be nice to have tables for all of the classrooms students need them in. Maybe I’m not fully aware of all available. Fuller understanding of ADD and resources for improvement would be helpful. I have used them all at one time or another For me, accommodations have always been made So far, everything has worked out fine. The extended test time would have been nice though most of my teachers allowed me to take test late. 2. Have had some where class continued after test was completed– I didn’t know how to approach that. Tests went okay. 3. Teachers are good with giving extra time as long as you go see them ahead of time. Teachers never go out of their way to find a quiet place alone to take the test– which is always frustrating and distracting. 2. Many instructors place me in noisy locations. I prefer to be in complete isolation Computer for Essay Exams 1= 0 2= 1 (2.1%) 3= 0 4= 1 (2.1%) 5= 1 (2.1%) 6= 1 (2.1%) n/a= 43 (91.5%) 50 40 30 20 10 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 n/a Large Print 50 1= 0 2= 0 3= 0 4= 0 5= 1 (2.1%) 6= 0 n/a= 46 (97.9%) 40 30 20 10 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 n/a Comments regarding Large Print: 1. Comments are as follows: 1. Graduating 2. I will be finished with school this spring. Possibly in the future though if I come back for MBA 3. I will be graduating after this semester (I plan to use SDS office this semester Spring 2009) 4. Graduating! Is there is any type of assistance not offered to you that would have improved your semester and/or overall educational experience? 1. 2. 3. Probably more notes from instructors. Maybe if they had a computer lab with a tutor on hand to answer questions, better parking Group specific to disability so we could have student support. Larger staff with fuller understanding and resources for specific disability. 4. More access to computer labs 5. I would say something for paper writing I know there’s a center but there to always helpful 6. Instructor notes, overheads 7. Extended time for assignments in addition to tests 8. No, it’s been a good experience so far 9. Received professors’ power point slides and notes 10. No, just need to get books earlier. Additional Comments/recommendations? 1. 2. 3. 4. If it weren’t for the SDS staff, I would not be graduating this spring! : ) THANK YOU! Great. Always here if I need something. I find the SDS staff especially the receptionist to be warm, friendly, and very supportive Spacing off professors and room schedules so that after classes end there is extra time for student and professors to work directly with one another. 5. They have gone out of their way to help me I would have failed out of college if not for the help of the DSO staff members. 6. Would like books on tape 7. All teachers need to have an understanding. I always feel like an inconvenience for them 8. I am so glad to be a part of the Disability Services b/c it really helped with my professors 9. Scheduling is difficult without lunchtime options and only 8-5 for graduate students, but I understand the time constraints the office is under. Never the less, it is a barrier to services 10. No, but thank you for the great service!
