In accordance with the schedule of ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector
meetings for 2002 (see TSB Circular 61, Corrigendum 1 of 27 August 2001), we would like to
inform you that in consultation with the Management Teams of ITU-T Study Groups 13 and 15, the
Workshop on IP/Optical, will take place in Chitose, Japan, at the Chitose ANA Hotel from 9-11 July
2002 inclusive, at the kind invitation of the Chitose city authorities.
The workshop will open at 09:30 hours on 9 July 2002 with an official session. Detailed information
concerning the Workshop will be displayed at the entrance of the venue.

The discussions will be held in one language only in accordance with decisions taken with
reference to the provisions in force.

Annex 1 gives the draft programme for the ITU-T Workshop on IP/Optical.

per participant), should be attached to the above-mentioned list.

Passports and visas
All foreign visitors entering into Japan must have a valid passport. Participants from countries whose
citizens must have visas should apply to a Japanese consulate or diplomatic mission in their
respective country prior to departure. Participants are also advised to contact their local travel agents
or carriers.

Chitose ANA Hotel is located in downtown and near from Chitose Train Station.
Preparing the laptop PC for the meeting
Bringing the laptop PC with you will be recommended in this meeting to realize the paperless
meeting. The workshop materials are supposed to be delivered by CD-ROM. Local Area Network
will be set up at the meeting room.
Hotel Reservations
Chitose ANA Hotel, Hotel Nikko Chitose, Chitose Airport Hotel and Chitose Airport Hotel Annex
are prepared for lodging and are located in the downtown area of Chitose. Hotel information will be
provided from early January on the home page for the workshop.
Transport

Train runs every 15 minutes from New Chitose Airport Train Station to Chitose Train
Station. The fare from New Chitose Airport Train Station to Chitose Train Station is 340
YEN.

The taxi fee from New Chitose Airport to Chitose ANA Hotel is around 2000 YEN.

Rapid trains are operated every 15 minutes between Chitose and Sapporo.

day


The beginning of July is hot and humid in Japan. However, Chitose has rather mild and dry weather

Electricity
Japan operates on 100 volts for electrical appliances. The frequency is 50 Hz in eastern Japan
