When and Why Add a Date




Dates are added to all monographs in
all formats
Dates are not added to serials
Dates create unique call numbers for
different editions of a work
Editions sit next to each other on the
shelf in chronological order

Add the date of the first or earliest part
Photocopies or Facsimile Editions

Add the original date plus the work letter “a”
