Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering
Position:
The Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the University of North Texas invites
applications and nominations for one tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant
professor, associate professor, or full professor to start in Fall 2009. Preference will be given to
candidates in the broad areas of controls, solid mechanics, or Mechanical Design.
Rank and Salary:
Salary commensurate with academic experience.
Qualifications:
At the assistant professor level, the candidate must hold an earned doctoral degree (or must
receive the degree prior to the appointment date) in mechanical engineering, or a closely related
field. Candidate must also demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
At the associate or full professor level, must have at least 5 years of experience beyond an earned
doctoral degree with a significant record of publications, extramural funding, as well as a record
of teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position are to develop a research program in an area that will attract
extramural funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and perform service activities.
The Department:
The Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering (MEE) was created in Fall 2006 and
currently has five faculty members. The MEE department offers BS and MS degrees with plans
to offer a PhD program. Currently the department has more than 200 students. Rapid growth is

The University:
The University of North Texas is an emerging national research institution located in the vibrant and
rapidly expanding Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and situated in close proximity to DFW
International Airport. University enrollment is over 34,000 students with more than 6,500 graduate
students. The university offers 257 undergraduate and graduate majors and concentrations.
