Catalog Description (edited): This course will examine methods and techniques that improve abdominal and back
strength, mechanics, and the ability to dynamically stabilize. The student will master total body movement that occur
through all three planes of motion. The exercises will be performed on a stable and unstable surface for greater balance
challenge. Equipment will be used to increase resistance to intensify the work load. This course will improve core strength
and activities of daily living.

Proposal Summary
Explain the purpose for this proposal:
This course has been successfully taught as a Special Topics course on the Stark Campus for several semesters. The
purpose of this proposal is to convert this course to an official PEB course catalog offering. Learning Outcomes: This course
will examine methods and techniques that improve abdominal and back strength. The student will master total body
movements that occur in all planes of motion and they will improve their ability to dynamically stabilize. Learning in Class
Activities: Learn proper technique for core conditioning exercises. Build core strength by increasing intensity of exercises.
Add exercises using equipment to increase strength and stabilization. Learn muscles that make up the inner and outer core
and the function of the inner and outer core. Learning Out of Class Activities : Practice exercises and techniques learned in
class to help prevent injuries and increase performance for activities of daily living.
