Explain the purpose for this proposal:
This class has been offered as a Special Topics course for several semesters and is being proposed as a new course for the
Course Catalog. Learning Outcomes The student will be able to demonstrate the following Scuba diving skills: Proper
assembly and disassembly of scuba equipment Pre-dive safety check Regulator recovery Flood and clear mask Alternate air
source use Neutral buoyancy (fin tip pivot and hovering) Remove and replace mask underwater Neutral buoyancy swimming
Underwater navigation Controlled emergency swimming ascent Learning In class Activities Skill tests Underwater skills
practice Learning Out of Class Activities Watch demonstration DVD of all underwater skills. NOTE: Since students are not
certified they cannot practice any underwater skills unless under the direct supervision of the instructor.
