Intermediate Yoga has been well received by the students who are looking to continue their study of Yoga. This proposal will transfer Intermediate Yoga from a Special Topics course to a course catalog offering. Course Learning Outcomes The student will expand knowledge of anatomy as related to asanas. The student will apply knowledge of anatomy to create space in the body enabling movement. The student will continue to build a solid foundation of current knowledge of the fundamental poses and principles of Yoga. The student will be able to demonstrate Pranayama; the art of yoga breathing. The student will utilize Yoga poses to increase and maintain strength and flexibility. IN CLASS ACTIVITIES that SUPPORT OUTCOMES The student will demonstrate a variety of Yoga poses. The student will demonstrate safe movement principles while practicing a variety of Yoga poses. The student will demonstrate meditation and breathing techniques during class participation. The student will independently demonstrate the Vinyasa style of yoga during class participation and practical exams. OUT OF CLASS ACTIVITIES THAT SUPPORT OUTCOMES The student will participate in an open book mid-term. The student will practice Pranayama and Vinyasa poses outside of class.
