Wiring
CAUTION: Before installing or performing any service on a Greengate system, the power MUST be turned
OFF at the branch circuit breaker. According to NEC 240-83(d), if the branch circuit breaker is used as the
main switch for a fluorescent lighting circuit, the circuit breaker should be marked “SWD”. All installations
should be in compliance with the National Electric Code and all state and local codes.
NOTE REGARDING COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMPS: The life of some compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) is
shortened by frequent automatic or manual switching. Check with CFL and ballast manufacturer to determine the
effects of cycling.

forenergysavingsandconvenience.Thesensorproducesalowintensity,inaudiblesoundtodetectoccupancy

inaroom.Changesinthesensor’sacousticwavecausedbymotion,suchaswalkingintheroom,reachingfora
telephoneorswivelinginachair,willmaintainthelightsON.Thesensordoesnotrespondtoaudiblesound.Whena Location
manualswitchisused,thebluewireiselectronicallyconnectedtotheredwire,energizingtherelayintheswitchpack
Themaximumcoverageareamayvarysomewhataccordingtoroomshapeandthepresenceofobstacles.Decrease
toturnontheload.Ifvacancyisdetected,thebluewireisdisconnectedfromthered,causingtherelaytoopen
totalcoverageareaby15%for“soft”rooms(forexample,heavydraperiesorheavycarpeting).Thesensormusthavea
turningOFFtheload.Theredleadis10-30VDCsupply,theblackleadiscommonandtheblueistherelaycontrol.
Thesensorincludesself-adaptivetechnologythatcontinuallyadjuststoconditionsbyadjustingsensitivityandtime clearviewoftheareatobecontrolled.Thesensorwillnot“see”throughglass.Mountingheightshouldnotexceed12
feet.Optimummountingheightis8to10feet.Mountthesensorsothegrillesfacetheopenportionoftheroomandare
delayinreal-time.

InbothFullandHalfLogicmodes,lightsconnectedtotheyellowcontrolleadwillnotturnONuponoccupancyactivation,should
theambientlightlevelexceedthepresetfoot-candlelevel.
After activation:
FullLogicMode–shouldtheambientlightlevelexceedthepresetfoot-candlelevel,thelightsconnectedtotheyellowcontrol
leadwillturnOFF.ThelightswillremainOFF,untiltheambientlightlevelfallsbelowthesetpoint.
HalfLogicMode–theoutputstateoftheyellowcontrolleadwillnotchangewithambientlightchanges,afteroccupancy
activation.Iftheamountofnaturallightavailablerisesabovethesetpoint,thedaylightsensorwillnotturnthelightsOFFwhile
occupancyisbeingdetected.

thelastmotiondetected.CoverageandsensitivitycanbeconfirmedbywatchingtheGreen(US)indicatorLEDsonthefrontofthe
sensor,whilemovingaroundtheroom.

Ultrasonic Sensitivity (GreenLED)–Usingasmallflatheadscrewdriverturnthegreenpotentiometersothatthearrowpointsup.
1. Standindifferentareasoftheroomandwaveyourhands.
2. IftheGreenLEDdoesnotturnON,increasetheUSsensitivitybyturningthegreenpotentiometerclockwiseinsmall
increments.RepeatStep1.
3. Standstillsixtoeightfeetawayfromsensorforfiveseconds.LEDshouldnotturnON.
4. IfGreenLEDturnsONwithoutmotionorisconstantlyONdecreasetheUSsensitivitybyturningthegreenpotentiometer
counter-clock-wiseinsmalldecrements.RepeatStep3.
Field-of-view outside the space
1. AdjustUltrasonicsensitivity.
Note: Setthelightlevelwhentheambientlightisatthelevelwherenoartificiallightisneeded.Inorderforthisfeaturetofunction,
theyellowcontrolleadmustbewired.
1. WiththeloadON,putthesensorintoTestMode.ToplaceintoTestMode,toggleDIPSwitch10outofitscurrentposition,wait3
secondsandthenbackintoitsoriginalposition.
2. SetDIPSwitch10toFullorHalfLogicMode.
3. Setthelightleveltominimum(fullyCCW).
4. Leavetheroomandletthesensortime-outsolightsareOFF.EnterthespaceandlightsshouldremainOFF.
5. MakesurenottoblockthesensorfromthedaylightsourceandadjustthelightlevelpotentiometerCWinsmallincrementsuntil
thelightsareON.(Pause5secondsbetweeneachadjustment)
6. OncethelightsareON,theloadconnectedtothesensorwillnotturnONiflightlevelsareabovethecurrentillumination.
Time Delay Adjustments
Peoplewhoremainverystillforlongperiodsoftimemayneedalongertimedelaythanthedefaultsettingof10minutes.Aslong
asAutoisenabled,thesensorwillrespondtoeachpairoffalse-OFFswithnonormalOFFinbetween,byalternatelymakingslight
adjustmentstoeithertimedelay(by2minuteincrements)orsensitivity,sothereshouldbenoneedformanualadjustment.Ifmanual
adjustmentisdesired,refertoTimeDelaysettingsinDIPSwitchlegend.
ResetsensortimedelaytofactorysettingsbymovingDIPSwitches1and2down.(IfDIPSwitches1and2arealreadydown,toggle
DIPSwitch10outofitscurrentposition,wait3seconds,andthenbacktoitsoriginalposition)
Manual Mode (-R Model Only)
InManualONMode,themomentarylowvoltageswitch(es)isrequiredtoturntheload(s)ON.Onceactivatedthesensorwillmaintain
thelightsONuntilmotionceasesandthetimedelayexpires.WhiletheroomisoccupiedtheBASrelayremainsactive.Afterthetime
delayexpires,theload(s)willautomaticallybeturnedOFFandtheswitch(es)mustbeusedtoturntheload(s)ONunlessthereismotion

WheninZeroTimeDelayModeandTrackingModetheloadconnectedtotheFormCrelayshallfollowthestateofthesensor’sblue
lead(zeroTimeDelayfortheformCrelay).
