Next Generation Recessed Multi-Lamp Fixtures
A rebirth. For over a decade RSA’s COMBOLIGHT® has been considered the standard
in recessed multi-lamp illumination systems. With this brochure we are introducing a
lighting product reborn to meet the evolving requirements of today’s lighting specifiers
and designers.
Equally at home in high-end retail and residential applications, COMBOLIGHT is also
ideally suited to hospitality and commercial applications.
Features include interchangeable double-gimbal lamp rings with 45º x 45º aiming,
a beveled edge for spill light cut-off, lockable accessory ring, and a unique
two-position lamp mounting system to accommodate flush lamp position or
regressed to accommodate snoots or baffle accessories.
One common housing type can accommodate both trim flange and trimless
inserts. Housings are offered as new construction or remodel.
We now offer the option to order COMBOLIGHT components separately for
quick-ship situations. See pages 6-7 for an introduction to this new concept.
RSA’s trimless insert provides a sharp, knife-like edge at the fixture
opening for a clean, undetectable transition from ceiling to fixture.
For a classic look, we also offer a trim
insert with a 0.75” flange.

COMBOLIGHT has been redesigned from the ground up.

CHOOSE FROM TWO METHODS OF SPECIFYING
1. COMPLETE FIXTURE ORDERING
Order a fixture like you always have. COMBOLIGHT Recessed fixtures may be specified
complete with all components included and ready for installation.
2. COMPONENT ORDERING
Specify housings, electrical assemblies or lamp assemblies as separate line items
to enable “quick-ship”.
Housing Ordering The first option in the component ordering method is the specification
of the COMBOLIGHT housing. Choose from new construction or remodel. Housings may be wired in the
field in one or two circuit configurations. The housing is shipped minus the power supplies or trim inserts.
This is perfect for jobs that need the housings quick but can wait for the other components.
Electrical Ordering The new generation of COMBOLIGHT fixtures introduce a
modular power supply and electrical system. A set of removable, interchangeable “trays” include transformers or ballasts, lamp sockets and leads for each fixture. Quick-connect wiring is employed for easy
replacement.
Lamp Holder / Trim Insert Ordering
The final option in the
component ordering method is the specification of the lamp holder type and the trim insert. Double gimbal
lamp holders are standard with an optional retracting mechanism. Gimbals have locking adjustment
of 45º x 45º. Trim inserts are available with a 0.75” flange or as a trimless insert. Standard architectural
finishes are available. The trim inserts snap in securely with torsion spring retainers.

NEW DOUBLE GIMBAL LAMP HOLDER
We’ve redesigned our standard COMBOLIGHT lamp holder from the ground up. We now offer, as standard, dual axis adjustment, unique retracting
features and state-of-the-art lamp and accessory optimization.
LAMP MECHANISM WITH FIELD ADJUSTABLE FLUSH MOUNT OR 1” REGRESS
Default position keeps lamp holder flush
with the ceiling surface.
The lamp holder may be repositioned at
the factory or in the field.
The 1” regress allows for greater cut-off
and will flush a snoot or cross baffle with
the ceiling.
DUAL AXIS LOCKING ADJUSTABILITY

The lamp holder may be adjusted up to
45º in either direction in most housings.*
Adjustments may be locked at their optimal
position for tamper proof maintenance.
Adjustment on dual axis enables a
greater range of aiming.
*Some remodel housings may not be able to achieve a full 45º.
DOUBLE GIMBALS WITH BEVELED EDGE LAMP BEZEL
RSA’s all new lamp bezel contains a lockable
accessory ring and uses springs to keep the
lamp and accessories in their optimal position.
The new lamp holder will accept up to two lens
accessories plus a snoot or cross-baffle with an
additional media holder.

The back finned design allows for improved
heat management and a consistent design
aestetic across the COMBOLIGHT products.
The bezel’s built-in beveled edge provides spill
light cut-off and complements the architectural
styling of the fixture.

OPTIONAL RETRACTABLE ARM MECHANISM
An optional 6.5” retractable arm may be ordered
when pull-down functionality is required for the
application.
The retracting mechanism may be installed on
either side of the outer gimbal ring to allow full 0º to
45º adjustment of the lamp in one direction.

• All 71 watt, 12V, magnetic transformer applications must incorporate remote
power supplies.
• Some higher wattage requirements must be accomplished with remote power
supplies. Consult RSA for solutions to these applications.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
REMOTE POWER SUPPLIES:
DIMMING INFORMATION:
• Electronic Transformers: Leading edge type dimmers will usually work without
issues. In cases where the application is fully loaded to dimmer capacity, some
audible noise can develop. Trailing edge or reverse phase control type dimmers
are preferred as this construction works well with the transformer and does not
create audible noise during operation.
• Magnetic Transformers: Leading edge type dimmers for incandescent or
magnetic low voltage loads are preferred.
MOUNTING INFORMATION:
• Residential Mounting: Hanger bar systems are available when installing
COMBOLIGHTS in field applications. Order Cat.# HB24000 (set of 2).
