Naik (contact details as given above) before 10 December 1999. To assist the participants, a block reservation of nearly 60 rooms have been made at the Hotel Le Meridien at special rate. which is also the meeting venue. However, once this hotel is fully booked, efforts will be made for additional registrations to book at another Hotel. Of course, the delegates have the freedom to arrange their own accommodation in a different hotel preferred by them at their own effort. However, noting the location of the meeting venue and the block reservation arranged at special conference rates, it is highly recommended that the participants stay at Hotel Le Meridien. Transport between the Bangalore Airport and the Hotel during arrival and departure will be provided by the Hotel for those who stay in the Hotel Le Meridian. The hotel has agreed to provide complimentary pick up from airport (and return) for its guests, provided flight details are provided in advance. The taxi fare from Bangalore Airport to Hotel Le Meridien is less than US $ 10. Pre-paid taxi counters are located in the arrival area. 6 Visa and Health Requirements Most foreign nationals require a visa for entry into India. It is suggested that participants start the administrative procedures to obtain a visa for entry into India with a sufficient leadtime. Moreover specific health requirements may be in force for certain countries. The participants are advised to enquire locally with health authorities and/or the India Consulate. The participants are requested to send their Passport details while sending the Registration Forms. 7 Climate The weather in Bangalore in January should be very pleasant with temperatures ranging from minimum around 14C at night and maximum in the mid 20s C around noon. Generally, during this period possibility of rain is less. 8 Currency Exchange In general, there are no restrictions on currency exchange in India and possibilities to change major convertible currencies are available in Hotel Le Meridien. Major credit cards are readily acceptable in many places. The current exchange rate stands at approximately 43 Rupees to 1 US $. It is recommended to keep the exchange receipts in case you wish to reconvert Rupees to the original currency. 9 Language The local language in Bangalore is Kannada.
