Subject:
Adoption of 2 draft new Recommendations and 3 draft revised Recommendations by
Study Group 6 in accordance with § 10.2.2 of Resolution ITU-R 1-3 (Adoption by a
Study Group by correspondence)
At the meeting of Radiocommunication Study Group 6, held on 25 and 26 March 2002, the Study
Group decided to seek adoption of 2 draft new Recommendations and 3 draft revised
Recommendations by correspondence, according to § 10.2.2 of Resolution ITU-R 1-3 (Adoption by
a Study Group by correspondence). Enclosed with this letter are the English versions of the draft
Recommendations, as revised at the meeting of Radiocommunication Study Group 6.
In accordance with the provisions of § 10.2.2 of Resolution ITU-R 1-3, the consideration period
will extend until four weeks after the text of the draft Recommendations become available in the
remaining working languages of the Union. An Addendum to this letter, enclosing the texts of the
draft Recommendations in the remaining working languages, will indicate the precise date at which
the consideration period will end. If no objections are received from Member States during the
consideration period, the approval by consultation procedure of § 10.3.5 of Resolution ITU-R 1-3
will be initiated. However, any Member State who objects to the continuation of the approval
procedure for a draft Recommendation is requested to advise the Director of the reason and to
indicate possible changes to the text in order to resolve the problem.

Any ITU member organization aware of a patent held by itself or others which may fully or partly
cover elements of draft Recommendation(s) proposed for adoption is requested to disclose such
information to me, in no case later than the date scheduled for adoption of the Recommendations in
this Circular Letter. The “Statement on Radiocommunication Sector Patent Policy” is contained in
Annex 1 of Resolution ITU-R 1-3.
