2015-2016 Inspiring women to succeed personally and professionally T he Women’s Success Series brings together women of all ages who seek better lives, professionally and personally. The series is intended to be a catalyst for women to think differently about success, a catalyst to think differently about themselves and a catalyst to think differently about how they live, work and play in Tuscarawas County. During each breakfast session, participants will hear from a dynamic woman who has enjoyed a measure of success right here in Tuscarawas County. Each session will have a book selection that the audience will read and partake in a discussion designed to move each participant to the next level in life. Elizabeth W. Stephenson,Esq. . Fri., Nov. 6, 2015 Elizabeth W. Stephenson is the Court Administrator of the Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas, General Trial Division. Since joining the court staff in 1997, she has worked closely with the judges organizing and coordinating efforts to establish Mediation and Drug Court Programs. Elizabeth has been active at the state level with the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Jury Task Force, and has served as vice-chair of the Rules of Superintendence Commission, and currently serves on the Advisory Committee on Case Management. She serves the Judicial College and Supreme Court in teaching Ohio judges and court personnel on a variety of topics. Locally, Elizabeth is involved in the Tuscarawas County Bar Association and a board member of the Tuscarawas County Law Library Association and the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation. In addition to being active in several community service groups, she is a founding member of the Breastfeeding Coalition of Tuscarawas County. Elizabeth is married and has four children. Featured Book: The Sweet Spot by Dr. Christine Carter Trang M. Moreland . Fri., Feb. 5, 2016 Trang Moreland grew up in southern Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in 1992 at the age of 21. While speaking very little English, Trang started out by finding employment at McDonald’s and in a few short years became owner and operator of Trang’s Family Restaurant. After earning a degree in cosmetology in 2004, she went on to own and operate Trang’s Family Salon in Uhrichsville. In 2010, she received the Prestigious Business of the Year Award from the Twin City Chamber of Commerce. Presently, Trang owns rental properties in Tuscarawas County along with operating her salon. She is also vice president of the Tuscarawas County Writers Guild and is in the process of writing a book, Just Smile and Say Hello. Trying to pay back to the community, Trang supports many local charities and is active in helping poor families in Vietnam with children’s school supplies. She and her husband, Jay, have two adult children. Featured Book: Daring Greatly by Brené Brown Jeannine M. Kennedy . Fri., April 1, 2016 Jeannine M. Kennedy is the highly respected executive director of Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, an adjunct faculty member at Kent State Tuscarawas and a weekly arts blogger for the Times Reporter. In 2003, Jeannine retired from Dover City Schools where she taught art for 30 years. During that time, she also served for 18 years as the regional director of the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. A few of her community associations are: Board of Education, Dover City Schools (Past President); St. Joseph Church: Parish Council (President); Dover Rotary; and the Dover Education Foundation Trustee. Throughout her distinguished career, Jeannine received many awards of distinction, among them are: the Ohio Art Education Association Outstanding Art Educator Award 1980, eight time winner of the Ohio Governor’s Award of Excellence in Teaching; three time winner of Scholastic’s National Award of Excellence in Teaching; Kent State University Tuscarawas 2010 Community Service Award; and the Community Arts Council 2010 Friend of the Arts Award.
