The degree is an advanced-‐level practitioner’s degree, and the focus is on practical knowledge and skill. • Obtain a copy of the School Counseling Practicum and Internship Manual or the Clinical Mental Health Internship Manual on the internet at http://www.kent.edu/ehhs/ldes/ces for guidelines. • It is students’ responsibility to make a copy of this prospectus for themselves and their advisor, and submit the original copy to Graduate Student Services in 418 White Hall. • The tentative course schedule is truly tentative. It is not guaranteed that courses will be offered during the semester, day, and time listed. Furthermore, courses are enrollment dependent. • It is expected that you consult your Kent.edu e-‐mail to stay abreast of important program and university announcements. Also, refer to the CES program website located at http://www.kent.edu/ehhs/ldes/ces for downloadable documents and program updates. • A registration block will be put on each student which will allow registration for only two semesters for Educational Specialist students from admit term (including summer) until a plan of study has been filed in the Office of Graduate Student Services. • The Ed.S. Program in Counseling is not CACREP accredited because CACREP does not accredit Ed.S. degrees. Scheduling / Advising Notes: • Please see the relevant information on the School Counseling Program or Clinical Mental Health Program Prospectus or Plan of Study. Please review this information with your assigned advisor. • To complete the Ed.S. in Counseling, 30 credit hours are needed beyond counseling master’s degree. • Courses used to fulfill the requirements for one degree may not be used to fulfill requirements for another degree. Therefore, courses you have taken to fulfill another degree, such as your master’s courses, cannot be used to fulfill requirements in the Ed.S. Consult the Graduate School Catalog and a CES advisor regarding prerequisites. By EHHS Policy all coursework counted toward a degree must be completed within 5 years of the first enrollment in courses(s) used to complete the Prospectus/Plan of Study. The signing of this Prospectus also indicates that the student has thoroughly read the CES Master’s Program Brochure and Student Handbook. _________________________________ _________________________________ _______/_______/_______
