Reading Resources Websites: Website Submission Process
The List of Reading Resource Websites was developed to provide educators with a collection of websites
that contain various reading lists and reading resources.
All websites are from governmental, university, organizational and/or nonprofit entities.
Websites are categorized as follows:




Resources for grade level groups;
Resources specifically intended for educators and/or parents;
Resources for English language learners; and
Resources that identify award/medal winners.
To suggest a website to be included on the Reading Resources Websites list please provide the
following details.

All submitted websites are evaluated by an initial screener for basic components and then by a
reviewer(s) to assure quality.
The initial screener determines step 1 and step 2.
Step 1)
a. The website is from a source that is a governmental, university,
organizational and/or nonprofit entity.

b. The website does not belong to a vendor.
c. The URL address provided is accurate and does connect to an active website.

If the answer to any of these questions is “false”, a rejection email is sent
to the party submitting, and the process is ended.
 If the answer to ALL of these questions is “true” then proceed to step 2.
Step 2) The primary website, secondary website and the tertiary website are all

examined for the items below.
a. The site does work properly.
b. There are not too many “pop-ups” or inappropriate “pop-ups”.
c. There are not disclaimers for using the site.
d. The site is easy to navigate.
e. There are not access restrictions.
f.
There is not sensitive or controversial material on the site.


If statements 2 (a-e) are “true” and (f) is “false,” the website is rejected.
If statements 2 (a-e) are “true” and (f) is answered “true”, the website
goes to a second reviewer(s) for verification of quality.
The second reviewer(s) considers the quality of the suggested website.
