Jasna Matić was born in Belgrade in 1964. She received a degree in civil engineering in
1994 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade as well as a degree in business
administration in 2001 from the Washington University of Saint Louis.
From 1994 to 1999, Ms. Matić worked as a civil engineer and project coordinator in
Masinoproject Kopring, Belgrade.
She was the World Bank consultant in Washington D.C. from 2000 to 2001 where she
worked as an information and communication technologies’ business analyst (Digital
Gap) for more then 20 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
From 2001 to 2002, Ms. Matić was special advisor to the Yugoslav Deputy Prime
Minister. Jasna negotiated financing conditions with the World Bank and the European
Commission, and she coordinated the implementation of several complex projects.
In the period between 2002-2004, Jasna Matić was chief advisor on the USAID project
for the promotion of Serbia’s competitiveness to Booz Allen Hamilton, private
government contractor.
From 2004 to 2007, she was Director of the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion
Agency (SIEPA). In that period SIEPA became of the best agencies of such type among
the countries in transition, for which she was recognized by many international
organizations, including the World Bank.
Ms. Matić was appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional
Development in 2007 and held the position until July 2008. Jasna managed international
economic relations as well as the sector of competitiveness and quality infrastructure. She
was a lead negotiator for the WTO membership and the IPA funds coordinator for the
entire ministry.
With more than twelve years of experience in Serbian and international business and
political environment, in July 2008, she was elected Minister of Telecommunications and
Information Society.
Speaks English, and has a working knowledge of Italian and German.
