FAd Awards Entry Form 2016 The FAd Awards is a creative competition hosted by Franklin Advertising. This competition was conceived to act as a platform for KSU students to present their best creative work to professionals, faculty members, and fellow students. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Franklin Hall on April 27, 2016 starting at 5pm. How to Enter Complete this entry form and drop it off at the JMC office, Franklin Hall room 201. Make sure you include your entry fee and a copy of your work. Hard copies must be submitted for print piece, writing, logo, photograph, and illustration. For video pieces and web design, send a link to info.franklinad@gmail.com. Make sure your entries are duplicate copies of your work as it will not be returned. Submission of entries acknowledges the right of Franklin Advertising to use as it sees fit. (Proper credits will be given if used for promotional purposes) Email info.franklinad@gmail.com with any questions. Deadline -­ April 18, 2016 @ 5pm After preparing your entries in the manner outlined in this guide, submit your entries, before the deadline, to the location indicated. Entry Fee -­ $10/entry One entry per entry form. You may submit the same work in two (or more) different categories or two (or more) works in the same category, but separate entry forms must be completed. Because an entry fee is attached to every form submitted, it is advised that you review each category thoroughly to determine where your work best fits to compete. ONLY SUBMIT LAST PAGE! Awards A winner for each category will be selected as well as a Best in Show. Best Video Entry Parameters: Must submit a video that demonstrates a high level of creativity. This could be, but is not limited to, a music video, a short film, animation, etc. Your video must be no more than five (5) minutes in length. Please send your video or link via email to info.franklinad@gmail.com. Include your first and last name in the email. Be sure to submit your entry form and entry fee to the JMC office. Judging is based on: Creativity -­ Concept is innovative and interesting with original and engaging content. Creative elements are brilliantly executed and are used effectively to enhance theme. Video idea -­ Ideas are well developed and executed in a unique manner. Excellent story, storyboard and script. Subject matter -­ Subject matter is engaging and interesting. The focus, organization, style and content fully expound on the subject matter. There’s a clear theme that runs fluidly throughout the duration of the video. Technical production -­ Picture is always steady and in focus. Images are well organized. Excellent composition and exposures. Best Web Design Entry Parameters: Entire or part of a website that demonstrates skills in web layout, design, navigation, etc. Submit the URL of the site with specific link to info.franklinad@gmail.com. Include your first and last name in this email. Be sure to submit your entry form and entry fee to the JMC office. This could be, but is not limited to a blog, website, etc. Judging is based on: Creativity: Website is innovative and interesting with original and engaging content. Creative elements are brilliantly executed and are used effectively to enhance theme. Audience -­ Audience is well defined. Tone, language, use of graphics and colors are appropriate for audience. Structure, navigation and formatting -­ Extremely well organized. Content is presented clearly. User experience is excellent. No blind links. Images and text -­ Excellent balance in use of images and text. Site is extremely clean and error free. Best Print Entry Parameters: Must submit a print based medium that displays a great level of creativity. This could be, but is not limited to, a poster, flyer, infographic, magazine/newspaper page, etc. There is no size restriction, however if the piece is larger than 11”x17” please submit a photo of the piece in situ and the art on an 11”x17” sheet to the JMC office. Judging is based on: Creativity -­ Print is innovative and interesting with original and engaging content. Creative elements are brilliantly executed and are used effectively to enhance theme. Composition -­ Effectively combines different elements. Exceptionally attractive formatting and well-­
organized information Images and text -­ Includes headline, tagline, body copy and illustration (as needed). All elements effectively work together. Content is clean and fluid. Best Writing Entry Parameters: The work should demonstrate strong writing with creativity and a passion for writing. Examples could be, but not limited to, scripts, magazine/news article, blog post, advertising copy, etc. Please submit a printed hard copy of your work to the JMC office. Judging is based on: Creativity -­ Writing is innovative with original and engaging content. Creative writing style is brilliantly executed and utilized to effectively enhance central theme.
Language and style -­ Tonality is tailored to the audience accordingly. Correct word choice, sentence fluency, and the writer's voice are all portrayed in the writing. Grammar & Spelling -­ Completely free of grammatical and spelling errors. Sentences are skillfully constructed, effective and varied. Idea – Central idea / theme is clearly communicated. The idea succeeds at holding the reader's attention. It’s engaging and thought provoking. Demonstrates excellent understanding of audience, and is organized efficiently with a distinguishable beginning, middle and end. Best Logo Design Entry Parameters: Must submit a single logo design that shows aspects of creativity and grasp of design principles. Logo must be originally created. Please submit a printed hard copy of your logo on an 8.5”x11” sheet, with the logo sized as large as possible on the sheet to the JMC office. Judging is based on: Creativity -­ Logo is innovative with original and engaging content. Creative elements are brilliantly executed and utilized to effectively enhance theme. Design Element -­ Mastery of design elements and principles. Clearly captures the personal / cultural ideas of the artist in a visual way. Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. Functionality -­ Logo is purposeful and clearly expresses the product or service through the use of symbols and manipulation of letters. Best Photography Entry Parameters: Must submit a single photograph that shows aspects of balance and creativity. Photographs can be black and white or color. Submit a hard copy of your photo on any type of photo or gloss paper to the JMC office. Photos must be no larger than 16”x24”. Judging is based on: Creativity -­ Photograph is innovative with original and engaging content. Creative photography elements are brilliantly executed and utilized to effectively enhance theme. Composition -­ Excellent use of eye movement, space usage, organization, etc. Composition is purposeful. Technical Qualities -­ Exhibits understanding of principle elements. Perfectly in focus -­ no shakiness or blur. Correct exposure and accurate white balance and range of tones. Best Illustration Entry Parameters: Must submit a single illustration that demonstrates technique and creativity. Illustration can be rendered in any way (illustrator, pen and paper, paint, etc.) Submit a hard copy of your illustration, no larger than 11”x17,” to the JMC office. Judging is based on: Creativity -­ Concept is extremely innovative with original and engaging content. Creative elements are brilliantly used to effectively enhance photograph’s goal and reach target audience. Medium – Medium is utilized to its fullest potential and entrant portrays excellent understanding of the different element involved in working with that medium. Composition -­ Excellent use of eye movement, space usage, organization, etc. Composition is purposeful. Best in Show Best in Show is awarded to entrant with the highest total score.
