10TH EUROPEAN FOURIER TRANSFORM MASS SPECTROMETRY WORKSHOP
http://go.warwick.ac.uk/eftms
April 1-5, 2012
University of Warwick, United Kingdom
Conference Overview
The conference will focus upon the applications and development of all forms of advanced mass
spectrometry instrumentation, particularly related to Fourier-transform mass spectrometry (FTMS).
In addition to advanced applications of FTMS, there will be significant coverage of any form of
instrumentation which relates to, or may be coupled with, FTMS instruments.
Topics to be covered include:
Instrumentation
 FTICR mass spectrometers
 Orbitrap and other Kingdon trap mass spectrometers
 FT Time-of-Flight mass spectrometers
 Ion transfer optics, including quadrupoles, ion funnels, and electrostatic optics
 Ion mobility separation systems
 Ion sources
 Fragmentation techniques
 Other, high-performance mass spectrometry instrumentation
Fundamentals
 Ion trajectory modeling
 Reaction mechanisms
 Ion-molecule reactions
Applications
 Genomics / Proteomics / Glycomics / Metabolomics
 Top-down analysis of biomolecules
 Petroleum analysis
 Conformational discrimination of biomolecules
 Other applications of high resolution / high mass accuracy analysis
Location
The University of Warwick is conveniently located for travel via Birmingham International Airport
(BHX). A car or taxi journey between the airport and the university should take approximately half
an hour, and a train service also operates between the airport and Coventry. Should visitors wish to
arrive at Heathrow Airport (LHR) or Gatwick Airport (LGW) instead, Coventry is also served by train
services from London.

Delegate costs
Our aim is to provide an all-inclusive package, where the costs will cover accommodation, meals,
attendance of the conference dinner, and registration for the conference.
Conference (all-inclusive)
Without Accommodation
£650
£400
Students
We are keen to engage the next generation of leaders at this meeting and are seeking sponsorship
that will allow us to offer heavily discounted rates for fulltime students to attend and a limited
number of scholarships to facilitate travel.
Student Rates
MSc and PhD Students receive a £100 discount.
Sponsorship
The University of Warwick is seeking sponsors among the key influence leaders in the broad space
relevant to Advanced Mass Spectrometry Instrumentation to help support the conference. We
want to be able to offer scholarships to selected attendees who could not otherwise afford to
travel. Specific funding needs include the following:

Scholarships for participants from the developing world, including key policymakers and
researchers who express the inability to fund their travel. Scholarships are needed to cover
registration fees and costs for travel and accommodation for an estimated 30 participants.

General operating support for the conference itself, for finalizing and disseminating the
conference proceedings and recommended strategies for change, and to begin implementation
of the research agenda identified during the conference.

Other specific sponsorship opportunities are available including, display of banners, hosting of
drinks receptions, hiring of on-site semi-private hospitality suites, conference bags, etc. Please
contact the organizers with any queries.
