Peter Leathem joined PPL as Head of Legal and Business Affairs in 2002 and following
several positions within the company since that time, he was appointed to his current
position of Executive Director in 2008. Prior to joining the company, he was a partner for 8
years with city law firm GSC Solicitors, where he specialised in intellectual property and was
Head of the Intellectual Property Department. He is responsible for all of the company's
licensing of sound recordings across broadcasting, online and mobile, and in public places
(bars, shops, nightclubs etc) in the UK. He also has the overall responsibility for Member
Services as well as the collection of licence fees from over 40 international agreements with
societies from overseas, ensuring that mandated record companies and performers receive
international revenues from the use of their recordings and performances overseas.
