Jonathan Dharmapalan serves as Managing Partner of Ernst & Young’s Global Telecommunications Center – Beijing in China. Jonathan leads Ernst & Young’s Emerging Markets Telecommunications practice. In his 24-year career, Jonathan has served some of the largest companies in the telecommunications sector. He has significant experience in both mobile and fixed line communications. He has worked with clients from the early days of this industries development, from privatization through the years of unprecedented growth of broadband and wireless technologies. In addition to telecommunications, Jonathan also has significant experience in the related sectors of high technology and media. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Jonathan led the Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Consulting Practice at another major international firm. He also led their Global Media Consulting Practice and their Technology Practice in Silicon Valley. Jonathan was the editor of the Silicon Valley Series publication and is a co-author of the book, “The Telecommunications Act of 1996: A Comprehensive Overview of the Law. Jonathan is a frequent speaker at major industry conferences. Jonathan began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories where he worked on several key technologies including the Switching Systems, Signaling Systems, and the Digital Broadcast Conferencing Technology for which he earned a United States Patent. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The California Institute of Technology.
