Safety education has as its primary objective the prevention of accidents. Accidents, which result in
injury to personnel, are usually caused by carelessness or ignorance of basic rules of safety. The same
can be said of accidents, which cause damage to building facilities and equipment. With this in mind,
you as a student at Gavilan College Aviation will be given instruction in safety, along with other
instructions. Your cooperation is expected, as you can never be an effective worker unless you are a safe
one.
The following list of safety precautions has been compiled to give you a basic idea of what is expected
while you are in the Aviation Program at Gavilan College. These precautions are designed not only to
make you a safe student with whom to work, but a safe employee once you enter your respective trade in
society upon your graduation. Following each precaution is a blank space for you to initial. Your initial
indicates that the preceding statement has been read by you and that there is no doubt about its meaning.

straight ladders are placed against the wall at a safe angle.

13.
